My first conscious memory consists of finally being able to draw a half circle. I needed that for a drawing of an oriental city. Judging from other factors,
I must have been between two or three years old at the time. So I guess it is safe to say, that I am a natural born artist, because my ability to draw is my
earliest talent, which has stayed with me ever since early childhood.
Today I use a variety of tools, depending on the task at hand. A pencil or a couple of crayons can convey most any ideas on the inside of 5 minutes. But ink
or charcoal also have a place in my heart due to the unique expressions they bring across. If it needs to elaborately coloured, I will work in watercolours
or acrylics.
As an artist I strive for realistic perfection. I must admit that I don't have too much experience working towards distinct styles like Manga. I guess I have
seen too many guys, being able to draw Manga, and only that. If you have the observation powers to draw things the way they are, you'll also be able to
emulate most any style in a reasonably short amount of time.
Creativity and artistic ability is hard to measure, but for the lack of a better way, I personally do so by watching people's drawing skills. At the end of the day, it is very difficult to convey creative visions effectively without being able to draw to some extent, which makes drawing ability as important for a games designer, as it is for an artist!
